DACHSER organizes vaccine logistics in Berlin

Logistics provider to manage warehousing of vaccine cool boxes and their distribution to vaccination centers, hospital pharmacies, and mobile vaccination teams

With Covid-19 vaccinations starting in Germany, DACHSER is stepping up to organize vaccine logistics in the German capital on behalf of the Berlin Senate.

Working on behalf of the Berlin Senate, DACHSER will manage the vaccine supplies upon their delivery to the central vaccine warehouse. It will also undertake daily quality-assured deliveries to up to Berlin’s six vaccination centers, eleven hospital pharmacies, and up to sixty mobile vaccination teams. The requisite vaccine equipment will be supplied from a warehouse operated by the logistics provider.

DACHSER and Fraunhofer IML receive German Logistics Award for digital twin

The German Logistics Association (BVL) has given the 2023 German Logistics Award to DACHSER and Fraunhofer IML. The jury gave the award for the @ILO (Advanced Indoor Localization and Operations) digital twin. Developed in collaboration at the DACHSER Enterprise Lab, this technology—which has already been piloted at two branches—automatically creates and continuously updates a digital twin of all packages, assets, and workflows in a transit terminal. Employees can access all this information presented clearly on mobile devices and displays.

Change is his steady state

Stefan Hohm took on the role of Chief Development Officer (CDO) at DACHSER in January 2021. He is now responsible for the new IT & Development (ITD) executive unit, which deals with research and development, innovation topics, IT, contract logistics, and global industry solutions. DACHSER workforce passes 30,000 as a new training year starts

As of September 1st, logistics provider DACHSER has more employees than at any other point in its history: approximately 30,500 people around the world are employed by the family-owned company based in Kempten in Allgäu, Germany; that same country is home to 16,246 of those employees. This year, 732 young people have chosen to train or study with DACHSER in Germany—the largest number ever.
