Hydrogen – the drive of the future?
Researchers at Kempten University of Applied Sciences have been commissioned by DACHSER to take a closer look at hydrogen as a CO2-neutral energy carrier in a study.
Hydrogen is seen as a hopeful candidate for the decarbonization of road transport. That's why DACHSER commissioned the Kempten University of Applied Sciences to conduct the "H2 Infrastructure and Logistics" study. The aim was to investigate the publicly available availability of hydrogen as well as the currently known production processes and refueling options for use in fuel cell-electric trucks in the period 2025 to 2030 for the European DACHSER Road Logistics network. The study shows: A number of challenges remain to be overcome in the search for a clean and sustainable fuel.
Open source – innovation as a philosophy
Software with freely accessible source code is resulting in the creation of more and more new IT systems and business models. Companies need to confront the open-source trend in digitalization.

Step by step toward the goal — Sea freight groupage containers facilitate the continuous flow of goods
In turbulent economic times, sea freight groupage containers are becoming increasingly popular. Production bottlenecks, fragile global supply chains, and a container shortage have further increased the demand for small and predictable shipment sizes in sea freight. Michael Kriegel, Department Head DACHSER Chem Logistics, explains the service that enables a reliable flow of goods in sea freight. He also talks about why a good network connection is crucial, especially for goods with high security requirements.
Striving for security of supply
In the recent past, supply chains have proven increasingly fragile and at risk. The reasons are manifold. To counteract this, companies are taking far-reaching measures. What these look like and how DACHSER can manage complex supply chains against this backdrop are the thoughts of CEO Burkhard Eling.
“The network makes us flexible”
Demand for air freight capacity remains high. In the first half of 2022, DACHSER operated 150 charter flights—that’s 50 more than in the same period in 2021. But challenges in air freight remain: lockdowns in China and staffing bottlenecks, exacerbated by strikes at major European and international airports, make supply chains susceptible to disruption. Timo Stroh, Head of Global Air Freight at DACHSER, talks about the current situation in air freight as well as potential prospects and solutions.
